Model to Model: Milan Kimble
Hometown: I’m from sunny California, more specifically Los Angeles
Nationality: Filipino and African American
Twitter: @MilanKimble
Facebook: www.facebook.com/Milankimble
VXN: How did you get into modeling?
MK: I kind of fell into it by going to photo shoots with some of my model friends
VXN: How long have you been a model:
MK: About 2 years
VXN: What are some major accomplishments on your resume?
MK: I’ve been featured in a couple videos, you can definitely find me all over the web, however, my biggest accomplishment yet was being able to grace the cover of Smooth Girl flavors December 09’ issue.
VXN: How did you get cast to shoot for the magazine?
MK: I was actually casted through Tori Treadwell at Eyecandy models
VXN: What are your modeling goals?
MK: I would like to take modeling as far as I possibly can. I want to be able to crossover from Glamour modeling and go mainstream and maybe get into commercials and acting.
VXN: Are there any models you admire? Why?
MK: Well actually there are two…Rosa Acosta, I respect her grind unlike a lot of these models who model for popularity and fame purposes she has definitely made a business career move out of the modeling industry and how could you not admire that! Secondly, I admire Amazin Amie, she’s another mainstream model that’s on top of her grind and in the most dignified way. God blesses us to bless others and Amie has definitely got that concept down to a science, she just has a beautiful spirit…something most people tend to lose when they get to the top!
VXN: How do you stay in shape (how often do you workout, specific workout, special diet, etc)?
MK: I try my best to eat healthly…mostly seafood, salad and water diets…I am definitely not one of those count the calories type people…I tried it and it drove me nuts…lol! I usually workout everyday when I’m not traveling. I usually workout for about an hour; I try to do two workouts a day, when I can. My workouts usually consist of 20 to 30 minutes of cardio (Jump rope, running, or my favorite the stair master). The stair master gets in the cardio I need while lifting and toning my butt and legs…love it! I also do sets of squats and lunges with 8 to 10 pound weights, leg lifts and of course sit-ups and crunches.
VXN: What is the biggest misconception about you?
MK: I’m sure that being in the modeling industry there are probably several. In this industry people prejudge and misconceive you all the time, from how you dress, to who you’re with, and the words that come out of your mouth. However, people are going to judge no matter what you do. As someone once told me…as a model you need about 15,000 fans and 50,000 haters…it’s the haters that keep your name buzzing in the industry, so you have to love them!
VXN: What is one myth about modeling (or urban modeling) that you’d like to shed some light on?
MK: Oh I could list a couple: that glamour models are groupies, that we are enticing men to degrade women, and etc., I just wish people would relax and realize it’s just another form of entertainment and if they don’t like it they don’t have to be entertained by it.
VXN: Do you have any tips for models just starting out?
MK: Modeling is definitely not for the faint of heart. “Define yourself and be your own you” success stems from YOUR passion in the things you do, not from doing what others believe you should do!
VXN: How can you be reached for bookings?
I can be reached for bookings via email MilanKimble@live.com or contacting Chris at (714) 408-0672 or by emailing him here (PLEASE serious inquiries only)
VXN: Anything else you’d like to add?
MK: “Women have to harness their power—its absolutely true. It’s just learning not to take the first no. And if you can’t go straight ahead, you go around the corner.” — Cher
